V1 chosen by West Suffolk Councils to improve invoice handling

Two councils in West Suffolk have chosen V1, the document and invoice automation software manufacturer, to support its drive to use the latest technology to be more efficient and get the best value for money. The move will result in boosted performance, cost savings, and allow the highly skilled finance team to focus on higher priorities.

St Edmundsbury Borough Council and neighbouring Forest Heath District Council, who are set to become a new, West Suffolk Council in April, have shared services since 2013. They identified a need for an invoice automation solution to speed up their current manual data entry across multiple services within the councils, which would integrate with their Unit 4 finance system. A procurement process led them to V1.

Councillors Stephen Edwards and Ian Houlder, portfolio holders for resources at Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury councils respectively said, ‘Using appropriate technology is one way our councils are getting the best possible value out of the share of Council Tax we receive from our residents. This is a good example of how automating labour intensive processes can benefit our taxpayers by reducing opportunities for errors and freeing time for our skilled staff to focus on further improvement.’

V1’s cloud-enabled document management and invoice automation software enables businesses to reclaim the potential of their finance teams by automating the mundane tasks. Its technology delivers demonstrable ROI – an average of £150m has been saved for 2,000 UK businesses.

Dean McGlone, Sales Director at V1, concluded: “We’re delighted to be working with Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury councils, as they become the newly merged West Suffolk Council from April to support automation that frees finance teams from time-intensive, low-value activities."
